Committed employees are those who make the company's goals their own goals and strive to constantly improve and develop the company and themselves.
Everyone wants to be successful. Commitment naturally develops in those who see how their actions contribute to success and who recognize that their actions are not hindered, but at best encouraged.
But even employees who are absorbed in their work and who are optimally supported by their team and management can sometimes fail to find the necessary self-motivation despite their best efforts due to a difficult psychological disposition or even a lack of mental health.
I would like to encourage you to actively help an affected employee out of their personal slump before a bad mood infects your team or even the entire organization. As a rule, you will need support from a third party to do this, as few people open up to their manager about very personal matters and talk to them about alcohol consumption or depression, for example. There is also a narrow legal framework that restricts your ability to find out about the employee's needs in order to be able to help them at all. Employee counseling is therefore a good option here.
